The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) performs a variety of advanced clinical duties involved in assessing, treating, controlling, and preventing illness and disease within the facility. The FNP provides general medical care and treatment to patients/residents under the direction of the Medical Director and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team.
This role participates in the observation, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, evaluation, rehabilitation, patient education, and ongoing medical management of adults with complex neurological, behavioral, and rehabilitation needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
* Ensures services provided are consistent with the Texas Nursing Practice Act and all applicable regulatory standards.
* Obtains detailed patient histories and performs comprehensive physical examinations.

* Recommends rehabilitative interventions including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and behavioral supports as appropriate.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION
* Master’s Degree in Nursing as a Nurse Practitioner OR
* Master’s Degree in Nursing with completion of a post-master’s Nurse Practitioner Certification Program required.
EXPERIENCE
* Three (3) to five (5) years of experience preferred in long-term rehabilitation, neurorehabilitation, or neurobehavioral healthcare settings.
* Experience working with neurologically impaired or behaviorally complex patient populations strongly preferred.
LICENSURE & CERTIFICATIONS
* Current Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
* Current Texas Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN-NP) license required.
* Current BLS certification required and must remain active throughout employment.
* Behavioral management and de-escalation training required per facility guidelines.
* Certification in behavior management or related methodologies (SAMA, ABA, PIP, etc.) preferred.
